I hate journals, and posts, and social networking.

You know what I don't hate? I don't hate vests.

<lj-embed id="1" />

So, I'm back in school. I'm taking Survey of Electronics, Japanese, and Statistics. The most fun and also the most difficult class of the bunch is Japanese. Today my Survey of Electronics teacher came in and said he picked up the flu over the weekend and after he takes roll and picks up homework everyone gets to leave, so I get 2 hours to kill before Japanese which is great because I had lots of distractions and procrastination on my work over the weekend and can really use the time to study more.

I've basically quit WoW, and am looking forward to Darkfall.

Yesterday was a fan-fucking-tastic day. I woke up with a smile on my face, spent most of the day with someone better than Neil, ate a "Righteous Babe", an old family friend I hadn't seen in a long time randomly came to visit, and more!

And no quote today.

"Yeah, I'm BATMAN, bitch. DEAL with it."

So, in an attempt to keep updating on a semi-regular basis it's now time to post things about stuff.

I've never had a lot of money and learned real young the value of a dollar so I've never been big on holidays and gifts. Partly because I rarely can afford to give much and I kinda feel bad about that, and partly because I've always lived with the idea of doing what you can for people when you can rather than giving merely on some artificially special day. I also think the most important part of a gift is the thought behind it and because of that I truly appreciate gifts that are personal and have a lot of thought behind them. Personally crafted makes them even better.

Now, for those of you that don't know, one of the things given to me on Christmas 07 was this:

Mouse-over the image or just look at the post title for the text (the quick webcam shot I just took isn't exactly well detailed.)

Chibi Batman is win, and even more win is what Katie gave me this year: Chibi Batman went from drawing to sculpture! I'll put up a pic later as Katie still has it since she didn't have time to seal it after painting it before Christmas, but it is awesome and is going to go on my desk right next to the card.

Other phat holiday lewt is the Dr. Horrible DVD from Don which is sweet. I'm listening to the new musical commentary again right now.

Speaking of music stuff, Repo! is supposed to hit DVD the 20th and I can't wait to finally get to see it.

Aaaaand LJ fails for dying mid post and only having saved to here.

Batman: You want me to what?!
Wonder Woman: Turn yourself over into U.S. custody, along with the rest of us.
Flash: Yeah, that makes sense, okay.
Superman: Meet us at the coordinates I’m sending first. We should all go over together.
Batman: This is the single dumbest plan I’ve ever heard. If you’re feeling guilty, clear your own name. Don’t stand on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to do it.
Wonder Woman: We’ve already voted. Five in favor.
Flash: Six.
Wonder Woman: You have to come with us, Bruce.
Batman: I don’t have to do anything. I’m a part-timer, remember? [Hangs up]
Wonder Woman: Actually, he took it a lot better than I’d expected.

Death Knights, and Zombies, and Stairs, Oh my!

So, as you can see, I've decided to start updating this again with random crap you probably already know. But don't worry, I'll make it interesting with pyrotechnics and a flashy hologram show. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

To play catch up from my last post: Things have happened. Yeah, that sums it up nicely. Moving on...

WotLK hit and I'm actually having fun with the game again. I have to keep my time spent in check, as I was running a bit hardcore for a while with things like the server first Naxx clear (it's a shame 10mans didn't give Feats). Death Knights are cool and massively powerful if you have the brainpower to play one effectively, which thankfully the general public doesn't.

Left4Dead is insanely fun. The standard gameplay is such a blast and would be enough on it's own, but there's also Versus mode which is where things go from "Totally sweet" to "Fucking awesome". It takes on an Assault style where each group takes turns being the Survivors and the Infected and score is awarded based on how long you survive or how quickly you rape their faces. While it's fun to be the survivors, it's so much more fun to be a zombie. The wonderful joys of laughing maniacally as you pounce on a straggler and beat them to death as they scream for their friends to save them, or as you ensnare a survivor with your tongue and pull them away from their friends constricting them to death, or when you sneak up on the group of survivors and cover them with bile attracting all of the nearby zombies to them and watch their well laid plans crumble as they panic, or the rare times when you get to be a tank and beat all the survivors senseless while they struggle to take you down are all SO fucking fun.

I'm now living upstairs and aside from crap causing it to happening before the bathroom got done so I don't have a shower up here yet, it's awesome.

Aside from a rough day recently (I think I overworked them AND slept with one getting too much pressure on it), my shoulders are slowly but steadily improving. Going from once in a while having a semi-normal day to once in a while having a bad day is pretty good. I really need a new bed. While I merely suspect it's part of the problem, I'm positive it's not making it any easier to get better.

Darkfall is finally coming out soon. I haven't gotten into the closed beta, so sadly it looks like I won't get a hands-on until open beta, which is supposed to be happening any time now.

Aaaaannnd...that's all for now.

The Joker: "Oh, you. You just couldn't let me go, could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You are truly incorruptible, aren't you? Huh? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. And I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever."

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Good: The Silent Hill movie is currently in Post-production, and slated for an April 21 '06 release. They're working with an adaptation of the original game's story, which is excellent. I can't wait. If you haven't played the games, and enjoy a good psychological horror, you must play them.

Bad: Twilight Princess has been delayed until '06 (no sooner than April). While there will be significantly more added to the game, which is a very good thing, the wait has already been quite long, and it just sucks to have to wait even longer. *whines*

Ugly: Ex that likes to chat has called for the third time in the past few days today. Calling once in a long while, I can handle. Frequently though, is seriously annoying.

Terry McGinnis: "How did you know you weren't hearing voices?"
Bruce Wayne: "Well, for one, I'm not psychotic."
Terry McGinnis: "Well, I hope your other answer's more convincing."
Bruce Wayne: "Second, The voice kept calling me Bruce. That's not what I call myself."
Terry McGinnis: "Oh? What do you call yourself?"
(Bruce gives Terry a long stare)
Terry McGinnis: "Oh. You would."
(Terry's Voice sinks to Batman's tone)
Terry McGinnis: "But remember, that's my name now."
Bruce Wayne: "Tell my subconscious that."

On Horcruxes, Spells, Destiny, and War.

So I just finished The Half-Blood Prince, (Yes, I know I'm a bit behind...I only got my hands on it 48 hours ago!) and it was excellent! I won't go into any details on it, but it had quite an ending... I can't wait for book 7!

On other fronts, I started playing Magic again with Tim and Victor. Tim had seen Angie and Aaron's card boxes sitting out in the living room, since they had started up again themselves a few months ago, and convinced me to dig out my cards.

The changes to AC in the Throne of Destiny expansion turned out to make things worse, rather than better. I expect I'll finally be saying goodbye to the game fairly soon, unless something amazing happens. It's had a damn good run though, '99 until now, and it's still the best PvP MMORPG to date.

Not much has changed in WoW, except the amount of time I spend playing it. The requirement of hours upon hours being spent in one single dungeon, fighting to just take out one boss (maybe two depending on where we're at at the time), and then going back in again the next day to push further, repeating weekly, is incredibly tiring. Molten Core is simply not the place for me. When I do play, I'm usually in the Battlegrounds. It looks as if I'll be skipping my tier 1 epics, as I can't spend the time required for frequent MC runs. However, Onyxia is much easier on time spent, and she drops tier 2 items, so that should be fairly easy to do once the crew is fully prepared.

And to end with what I think will become my regular exit...

Green Lantern: "Anyway, why are we always talking about my love life? What's going on between you and Diana?"
Batman: "Nothing. She's a respected colleague."
Green Lantern: "Uh-huh."
Batman: "I don't have time to pursue a relationship. My work is too important to allow any other distractions. Diana is a remarkable woman, she's a valued friend. She's...standing right behind me, isn't she?"
Wonder Woman: "Don't let that stop you. Keep digging."

Alright, Alright!...I'm updating!...Sheesh...

Yes, it's true! I'm actually posting an update! Amazing, isn't it?

Let's see...Begins was good. They held close to the comic style, and overall I was very happy with it. Four also did well, as it was quite enjoyable and they didn't butcher it (well, at least from my perspective...I don't know it nearly as well as Batman, obviously). Charlie was good...gotta love Tim Burton. Speaking of which, I can't wait for Corpse Bride.

The JLU season finale was awesome. TT was good as well, but not as intense as JLU. First off, the story arc they ended the season with was just absolutely amazing, then the way they directly tied it to the rest of the Bruce Timm universe by closing with "Epilogue" which was basically the Beyond series finale that never was, was just great. It provoked me to go watch Beyond, since I had never gotten to really watch it before (didn't have WB when it was airing).

What else...I'm all signed up for classes. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be fun, starting with a workout, then some math, then some geek.

The AC expansion should be arriving shortly, which will be interesting. I haven't been playing much of it, since I've been playing WoW, so this may get me playing it more often. WoW is lots of fun. I've almost got my complete Shadowcraft suit (Rogue set armor) and should have it completed soon now that Scholomance is easier to run. I am already Honored with Frostwolf clan and am about a quarter of the way towards Revered...shouldn't be "too" much longer before I hit Exhalted and get my awesome rewards. Molten Core is getting pretty easy now. However, Blackwing Lair is very mean.

And now I shall leave you with a quote, from Mask of the Phantasm:

Just after someone on the news calls Batman a madman, Alfred shuts off the TV and responds with, "What rot, sir! Why you're the very model of sanity. Oh by the way, I pressed your tights and put away your exploding gas balls."

The Revolution begins

For those of you living in a hole (...the place where this journal has been lately...) this is the week of E3.

Monday morning Microsoft and Sony held their press conferences, showing their respective new systems. I watched both press conferences online monday evening, in their entirety. When I was through with them, I was ready to stab my ears out from listening to the boring crap that they went on and on about.

Microsoft went on and on with their boring "We're the best" comments and displayed their Marketplace setup that will be a part of the new Live system. (Microsoft out for more money? No...couldn't be...) The Microspeak, as I'll now call it, that as you all should know is how Microsoft representatives talk...with that constant "we're big, rich, and are trying to monopolize this" undertone oozing out of every word they speak, which is actually amplified by the incredible lengths they go to trying not to sound like that is what they are doing...was, of course, present throughout the conference and was annoying as hell. They finally got to the games, and there was nothing impressive. The only thing I'd really like to play is Perfect Dark Zero, and that's because I love the original, and the game has been in development since the original came out (Zero started as a Cube project, then went to Xbox when N sold Rare to MS, and finally moved to the 360...after this long, it had better be worth playing)

Sony holds it's conference next...and things get worse...the rep goes on, and on, and on, and on...for about 45 minutes...JUST on the system spec numbers trying to tout that their system was so powerful and amazing. It was during that period of time when the thought of gouging out my ears really came to the surface. When they finally get to the games, I'm far less impressed than I was with Microsoft, which was highly unimpressed as it is.

Then, this morning, the good times cometh. Nintendo's press conference.

It starts out with an intro using a number of various interview/press audio clips that end with Reggie Fils-Aime's infamous intro from last year of, "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass. I'm about takin' names. And we're about making games." then we get to the stage, where Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata starts right in with a chuckle followed by, "My name Iwata. I'm about making games. And I'm about playing games. Last night, I played Super Smash Bros. That's My game. I kicked some...you know what. And I took 'his' name. 'His' name was Reggie. As Nintendo President, I'm also all about asking questions. So, Reggie, I have a question for you: Whose...your...daddy?" Then they go right into a video presentation, displaying games.

After the video ends, Reggie is on stage, and starts right into his presentation. Starting out with mocking the immense amount of time spent by MS and Sony talking about all the numbers and specs. He stays on stage throughout most of the game presentations for the DS, discussing everything they're doing with the DS as the conference progresses. Part of that is going into some more detail about the online setup, the fact that the base service will be totally free, and all first party games will be totally free, that it'll be up by the end of the year, starting with Mario Kart DS. Also in there, they show off the new Micro Game Boy, which is an incredibly tiny and slick GBA.

After all that, they show a video of a pile of upcoming DS games, and then come back to Iwata on stage, with the small, sleek, sexy Revolution. He discusses some of it's details, though remaining fairly secretive about certain things for the moment. He explains that the Revolution will have built-in WiFi and will have basically the same online setup as the DS. He explains that it's backwards compatible with the Gamecube by directly using it's discs, and that it is backwards compatible with N64, SNES, and NES as well by providing their entire 20 year library of games for download. He explains that they plan to have a new Smash Bros. game ready for launch, and fully online, among other franchise games as well as a new Crystal Chronicles. He also takes another jab at Reggie about then being able to beat him no matter where he is. He states that they have a new Mario, Zelda, and Metroid in the works for the Revolution, as well as a brand new creation by Miyamoto, that is yet to be revealed.

There is then coverage of all the games slated for this year's release. The last shown, of course, is the new Zelda. It's simply awesome. I truly can't wait.

I've been so excited about everything all day. There's so many games that I need to go preorder, not to mention the Revolution itself.

And I still can't get over the hilarious start with the President of Nintendo saying, "Whose your daddy?"

Tomorrow: Final exam, and then the midnight showing of Star Wars!

The time for Games.

Ah...spring break. The time for gaming your ass off in order to make up for all the time wasted on school that you really should've been spending gaming.

I'm now level 50 in WoW, and I intend to make a push to get as close to 60 as I can this week. And I also have some console/handheld gaming that I need to catch up on as well, including both Yoshi's Touch and Go, and DK Jungle Beat that both come out tomorrow.

Then of course, is the longer-term gaming love that I've been immersing myself in all afternoon.

The GDC (Game Developers Conference) recently happened, and the gaming love was everywhere in a wonderfully sticky mess.

Among other things, they showed Mario Kart DS with 8 players (Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, played it with another Nintendo presenter and 6 people out of the audience when he presented it), they released that Revolution would be backwards compatible with GCN as well as that it would have built-in WiFi, and they released that the DS would be online with it's WiFi by the end of the year, AND they released that all of Nintendo's online services would be Free.

And last, but most certainly not least, for all of us that are waiting so impatiently, they showed brand new footage of the new Zelda. It's just so beautiful. I can't wait.

Week one.

Week one is now complete, and it's time to take a break and rest.

Fun things that happened in the last two classes:

The first computer Dwight gave me not only was missing a hard drive, as a number of them were, but a processor as well. Probably was missing even more, but at that point there wasn't much reason to keep looking at it.

In math, our "Quiz" that was assigned on the first day was more like a scavenger hunt type thing, sending us to do steps for getting help, so we were familiar with them if we needed any. Anyway...one of the steps was to ask the teacher a question, while she was in her office. Now, the question was not required to be anything math related, or even related to the class at all. You just had to ask a question.

My question was, of course, "What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?" She didn't get it. However, she was amused by it, and at least knew the name Monty Python because her Son is a fan, and actually made a note of it, and means to watch the movie with her Son now.

Later, in class, she was trying to show people the online Blackboard. She had set up the message boards, but didn't really know her way around it that well. So as she was trying to explain how to use it to the class, incorrectly, I jumped in and showed how to actually use it. After I was done, she told me she was going to give me extra credit for it. Yay for computer literacy!

Day two.

Day two of classes is over.

Computer repair last night with Dwight was great.

Math today was...math.

I didn't get into Sign Language (NO ONE did. Even Zeb's friend and TA statuses didn't help, the class was literally completely full.) but it's probably a good thing, and I'm actually kind of relieved about it.

Tomorrow: Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

The rare and unusual!

Yes folks, in this rare and unusual update, I'm not actually being cryptic or alluding to something. Just a quick summary of the day thus far.

Got up far too early, particularly considering I didn't really sleep well in the first place, and headed off to my first class.

Math.

The teacher is really cool...in the "I am glad I have this teacher and not some other one" kind of way...she's a total Math Nerd, which in this case is actually a good thing because she's also big on computers meaning I can get craploads of stuff done online. She also just seems like a nice person in general.

Then I chill for a few outside the library playing my DS before I decide I'm hungry and have enough time to kill that I can afford a trip back to town for food and to dump books. While I was playing, Quinn and Reese walked by and said, "Hi" and some random guy stopped and asked me about the DS.

And we're basically up to now...so I'm off to get some food, and then it'll be time for Sir Dwightalot.

It starts.

It starts. You think you know a guy...
Timon and Pumbaa. You learn to love 'em.

I know what I have to do. But going back will mean facing my past. I've been running from it for so long.
[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]
Oww. Jeez... What was that for?
It doesn't matter, it's in the past.
Yeah, but it still hurts.
Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.
[Rafiki swings his stick at Simba again who ducks out of the way]
Ha. You See? So what are you going to do?
First, I'm gonna take your stick.
[Simba snatches Rafiki's stick and throws it and Rafiki runs to grab it]
No, not the stick. Hey, where you going?
I'm going back.
Good. Go on. Get out of here.
[Rafiki begins laughing and screeching loudly]

Gee. He looks blue.
I'd say brownish-gold.
No no no no, I mean he's depressed.
Oh.

So much time, and so little to do. Strike that. Reverse it.

It's been quite a while since my last post, so I figured I'd update.

Since nothing particularly warranting it's own post has happened, this post will consist of general random crap.

Thanksgiving was very plain. I spent a large portion of the day in my room, avoiding people, and playing games. Tim's play opened the day after.

The DS arrived. It's simply awesome. Along with the DS and Mario 64 DS, I've gotten Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, which both kick some serious ass. I have a handful of other new/recent releases I intend to pick up, but am going to put them off until after Christmas, as I'm expecting to get games as gifts, and I don't want to screw over those doing the buying.

Speaking of gifts, I still have to go shopping. Such fun...

I also need to get my plans for my snowboarding trip finalized. It'll be nice to get away from everything for a little while and just enjoy myself for once. This'll be the first trip I go on brought about solely by me, and with no one to rely on/be hindered by but myself. I really need the relaxation I'll get from the peaceful atmosphere of the mountain.

Tonight I went to see Margaret Cho. The show was great, and everyone was laughing their asses off. Emily, Victor, Angie, Aaron, Zeb, and two of Zeb's friends all went as well. Zeb's kind of a fan, so he was kept totally in the dark on what was going on until she came out on stage (That's almost a month of making sure he didn't even know she was coming here). Angie even had him blindfolded on the way in. Everyone had a blast. It's a shame we get so few good shows up here.

"You know I hate, detest, can't bear a lie, not because I am straighter than the rest of us, but simply because it appalls me.
It's over.

Once again, just like every other year, that dreaded day has come and gone.

This year started with me attempting to sleep in. However, already knowing the crap that was to befall me didn't make that very easy.

I eventually am forced to get out of bed (It's not like I was actually sleeping, anyway.) and go receive my gifts from the boys before I head over to the office to work. Yes, work. Aaron planned to do the work on the office on my birthday, and I was "Needed" to help.

I get there, and what do I find?...even though they've had three to four hours (depending on the person...some got there slightly later than others) to work before I got there, they had gotten just about NOTHING done. So I then spend three hours running around town with a few of them getting the supplies that they should've already gotten.

Finally we return to the office. Some people were JUST starting to paint (The person with the painting supplies was sent back to the office at least half an hour before then, and it takes only a couple minutes to get there from where we left him.) and after a good ten minutes of people being mostly inactive, I'm sent with Pat to Fortuna to get the wood that was still at his house and to the hardware store there, since it was obviously asking too much to think ahead and get those things while we were at either of the two other hardware stores we had been to already. (That's not even getting into the fact that the wood should have been brought up with him when he first left the house.)

We go to the store first, then get to his house and pull out the wood, which he still needs to cut, and after he searched for a while to find the measuring tape, I start measuring and marking it to get it ready when he realizes that there was something else he needed and had to go to ANOTHER store to get it. I waited at the house and finished the measuring and marking while he went to do that. I was utterly fed up at this point, and as soon as he got back, I left.

Now, I absolutely hate when unorganized people say they "Need" my help, only to leave me stuck either waiting around 90% of the time, or taking over the situation and pulling the organization together myself. When I work, I work. If they have things organized, and keep things productive, I'll work my ass off until the job is done, and I'll get it done quickly, well, and efficiently. If I'm going to be standing around waiting for them to pull their heads out of their asses, I don't fucking "Need" to be there.

What makes it worse, is that it was my fucking Birthday. I didn't want to be there in the first place. Not to mention, I specifically made it clear that I was only going to be there if I "Needed" to be there, and clearly knowing the distinction, they said I was in fact "Needed".

So, after I left Fortuna, I headed over to Em's, and pretty much fumed for the rest of the night.

Birthdays just never go right for me. This year, people I wished would forget about it, remembered. Last year, the only person I cared to have remember it, forgot. A couple years ago I even had a giant fight break out. Don't worry, I'm not going any further back, or into any more details. It would take far too long. Simply understand that no matter what, something always seems to go wrong on my Birthday. I hate it.

Constantly talking isn't necessarily communicating.

So, as you may or may not know, I like to introduce my friends to films I enjoy, and consider to be quality films. I enjoy exposing them to something I consider a worthwhile experience, and I also enjoy the simple act of sharing something I enjoy with my friends.

Tonight's showing was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I thoroughly enjoy this film, though I do have to say that the timings of both my initial theater viewing, and that of tonight, leave something to be desired. As much as I enjoy the film (and this next statement should in no way influence the good marks I give it) I can't help but feel like crap after watching it.

I'm left almost wishing that it were possible to simply erase the things I'd like to forget. Yet I know that those things make me who I am, and some of them are even memories that although I do at times wish they were gone, I would never get rid of them if given the choice, because despite the pain that they can cause, they mean so much to me that having them is worth every bit of suffering I may endure.

Joel: "I don't see anything I don't like about you."
Clementine: "But you will! But you will, and I'll get bored with you and feel trapped, because that's what happens with me."
Joel: "Okay."
